Roland, AM crash is a known issue in GDP (see GDP-64) affecting all boards. A workaround has been created and added to meta-genivi-demo. The Porter GDP G8 branch is waiting to be updated to the new SHA by the GDP Maintainers (I have not write access to do it) but should be soon. You can update the meta-genivi-demo SHA yourself in the meantime or apply the fix.

On the MAC address issue it sounds like your not setting a mac address in u-boot, so the kernel generates one. What's your u-boot environment?

I thought that setting was in the wiki doc but perhaps its been lost. It happens sometimes with various people updating.

For reference here is my u-boot env (look at ethact and ethaddr) for a fixed IP address:

            setenv baudrate 38400
            setenv bootargs_console console=ttySC6,${baudrate} setenv bootargs_video vmalloc=384M video=HDMI-A-1:1024x768-32@60 setenv bootcmd 'setenv bootargs ${bootargs_console} ${bootargs_video} root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rw rootfstype=ext3 rootdelay=3;run bootcmd_sd;bootm 0x40007fc0 - 0x40f00000'
            setenv bootcmd_sd 'ext4load mmc 0:1 0x40007fc0 boot/uImage;ext4load mmc 0:1 0x40f00000 boot/uImage-r8a7791-porter.dtb'
            setenv ethact sh_eth
            setenv ethaddr 2e:09:0a:00:75:b5
            setenv gatewayip 192.168.1.1
            setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.2
            setenv netmask 255.255.255.0
            setenv serverip 192.168.1.1
