The IVI layer manager is a set of tools to manage different visible "layers" in a typical IVI setting. Layers, in this instance, are considered visual slices of the User Interface which show different data. One uses these layers to composite a view which is shown on the screen. One example might be a layer showing a route a car is taking drawn on top of a map that gives the route context. You can visit the project home page for more information.

Components of ILM

Doing layer management and compositing requires a number of different modules. For the ILM GENIVI uses; Wayland IVI Extension as well as other modules.
